I know I can freeze slices of bread, but is it a good idea? Will the thawed bread be firm enough for toast? I buy a bag of 19 day-old bread but it molds after a few days, so I have to throw out most of it. Can I save it?

@thailen,
It might be ok for toast but don't make sandwiches with it like my mother used to do sometimes. Yuck.

I've never frozen bread. I really don't want to. However, I have ground it up into crumbs for breading food for frying and have frozen it in glass jars.
