im a girl, and i really want a mohawk but my authoritys wont let me get one, whats a nother punk hair style i could do, i already dyed the crap outa my hair, its been every colour ever invented and i wanted to stop dying and bleaching it. also, im not getting a fauxhawk. ever. so thats out of the question. thanks kids
@ihateeverything,
Who are the authorities? Parents?
All kinds of short/ choppy/ spiky styles can be punk. What are your limitations? (Like, dyeing was evidently fine, mohawk is not, can you shave at all? How short? Etc.)
@sozobe,
ya the authoritys are my parents. my hairs pretty short, i cut it myself so its very uneaven and kind of unfixable. im pretty much alowed to dye it anything i want. i sometimes spike it into liberty spikes but it takes forever and i have to redo it in the morning. and ya im not alowed to shave it.
How old are you and why do your parents object? Why is it important to you?
Parents often worry when their kids want to do something they think is wacky. They worry about what people will think about you... and about them.
My son (9) has had a mohawk and some other crazy hair styles. I don't really understand why parents get bent out of shape over hair. It grows back.

Well there ya go. That's punk. (Punk = do-it-yourself, beauty-in-imperfection, f-what-I'm "supposed" to look like.)
Just muss it a bit and spike it now and then (a spiked mohawk is plenty of work too btw) and keep talking to your parents about why you think you should be allowed to shave the sides.
growing out a mohawk will be really bad . . .
@boomerang,
im a teenager and my mom thinks punk rock is the devil
I had a mohawk when I was 19 and lived in then very punk East Village. I'm (almost) now 50 and I turned out just fine. Shave it when you go away to college. I'm always amazed that punk is still around.

I'll bet that's part of what you like about it though, right?
I was a teen the first time punk happened and I was completely into it.
My mom thought the fashions were cute and creative.
I almost switched to disco.
Yeah, I'm 51 and I think a mohawk would be utterly cute and adorable on our OP.
I think getting her labia pierced would be really snazzy.
@Green Witch,
i know i just cant convince my mom, and i want one while im still a teenager, while it still matters to me that i have a mohawk, its not like im gunna have it forever.
@ihateeverything,
Yes, they tend to look silly on older people, unless a person has spectacular bone structure. If I was your mom I would let you do it. Although, it did require a bit of maintenance. If I didn't shave it regularly I looked like a mental patient.
I guess I was ahead of my time, but I had something like Rhianna's, but much longer in the back. Maybe if you show your mom some pictures like this she will give in. It's soft and feminine and not too harsh:
@OmSigDAVID,
My parents were pretty conservative people but I really don't think it was possible to have a full blown teenage rebellion against them.
They didn't always approve of my decisions but they were always on my side.
They loved me.
Go figure.
@boomerang,
I was in a similar situation.
I had full freedom.
There was nothing against which to rebel.
David
@OmSigDAVID,
I'll get a mohawk if you will, dave...
ihateeverything: see if "quid pro quo" works for your parents.
Figure out what that means and post here when you do.
@Rockhead,
I 'll get antlers first. . . .
@OmSigDAVID,
But then you couldn't go out during hunting season. It would be too ironic if you got shot.
