When a person is invited to a friend's home and stays overnight (e.g., during the Thanksgiving holiday) should one write a "thank you note? Is that old-fashioned?

@gollum,
If I were the guest, I would send a hand written thank you note to express gratitude, maybe with flowers or wine depending on the specific circumstances.

If I were the host, I would love to receive a thank you note. I can't imagine this being seen as a wrong thing to do.

If I were the host,
I 'd not expect to receive it.

If I received it, I 'd not know what to DO with it.

(I prefer hotels.)
