Have you ever been homeless or know anyone who was?

@snood,
I figured pig latin, but I'm no pig latin mavin.
Is that true that pig latin is used?
Naturally, I get 'rollers'.

This sounds paranoid but I don't mean it that way - me being homeless is not a fear fantasy, I live at financial edge. Yeh, I'm online, for now, and live with galumphing foreboding.

We have many who have struggled here at a2k. And we know them. Have you read Shewolf's saga, BBB? You want her to pump up and tell again?

Are you hoping people blurt recent stuff, BBB?
Probably not, but this is a sensitive subject.
Not a bouncy 'can you answer this' subject, but something people are dealing with.

Pig Latin is used occasionally in ghetto slang. It's not a constant thing but there are other examples. Ofay, meaning 'white person', is PL for foe, for example.

I agree with Osso, being homeless isn't something someone would want to discuss on a public forum.

@dyslexia,
There is also the fear before homelessness. Many are going through it. Plus, the after.

@ossobuco,
glad to read you and K's responses, I had wanted to post similar but was reluctant to do so. would only add that there are many many causes of homelessness beyond those typically thought of.

I assume that people who want to tell their experience here will do so. Those that don't want to won't. Don't judge me by yourself---please.

I can understand why someone might not want to talk about it publicly, especially if they had experienced it. But that's an individual thing that I don't think we should probably generalize - some might want to talk about it, and there's nothing wrong with that (is there?).

@snood,
I've never been homeless but I've known a lot of people (through work) who are.

I think it's good for people who feel so led and who have worked their way through it to talk about how and why they were able to do that. I might give hope to other people who are homeless ( many of whom access the internet through the public library, which is where a lot of homeless people spend their days as usually night shelters - at least over here - close down for the day. The people who sleep in the shelters have to leave after breakfast at 8:30 and cannot come back into the shelters until 6:00 pm for the evening meal and to sleep. And a lot of times, once they're in - they have to stay in- there's no going in and out - they've been breathalized for the night, admitted back in and that's it.

Anyway - I think people like you Snood could shed a lot of light and hope on the subject so I'm glad BBB opened the thread and you responded.

@snood,
Snood, I know that people who have been homeless don't like talking about it, in general. I made a generalization based on experience.

I tried that.
Im probably TOO open with my life, my thoughts and my experiences. I get more hateful judgment than anything else at times it seems and people are very quick to want to put someone down for something that has happened to them.

I never did understand this.

If someone is talking about something that has happened to THEM, why do people feel the need and feel they have a place to insert their own self imposed guilt trips, hatred and judgment?
It happens.
Allllll too often. And for that reason alone, Im sure many people will never discuss that.
