heh.
I've been eating bacon almost every day for the last 7 months or so, and have lost 20 pounds. I have however, cut out anything related to toast.

@chai2,
aint it amazing? eaat bacon, lose weight too. It also makes us smarter. I can now read the labels and tell when Ive got a pound of bacon instead of some fuskers trying to slip in a measly steenkeng 12 ounces.

@farmerman,
I'm buying the uncured stuff. Seems it only comes in 12 oz.

What I find interesting is that even with the bacon and other fats, my triglycerides are down also. As is, obviously, blood glucose.

@chai2,
I tried that meat and proteinaceous diet for about two weeks and I started going for chips nd cheese to eat with my bacon.

So, when I got serious, I started in with eating "LEAN CUISINEs" with one total off day per week and one day with something with ice cream or schmutzy pies.
I ve stabilized at 179 and I go up 2 pounds and down two pounds in a 2 week period.

@Setanta,
ever tried just doing bacon on top of parchment at 400 F in the oven??
20 minutes for thick cut and bout 15 thin cut. Its crispy yet unburnt and the grease is all sopped up on the parchment(I use that for catfish chum)

It's a committment, I won't deny it. At 2 weeks, you were still going through withdrawl.

Actually, I try to avoid meat when I'm able, and it's only moderate protein.

Lotsa avocado, olives and some macadamia and brazil nuts, salmon, eggs, cheese and some chicken and red meat. One good thing is I never eat anything I don't really want at that moment.

I really didn't get into this for the weight loss. It's a pleasant by product.

@chai2,
For you! “About 68% of the calories from bacon come from fat—and about half of those are from saturated fat—so it's definitely not the healthiest meat you can choose.” Bacon and other smoked, cured and processed meats are usually treated with nitrates or nitrites—chemical added to preserve shelf life and enhance color.

What Bacon Really Does To Your Body | Time
Your body needs healthy fats for energy and other functions. But too much saturated fat can cause cholesterol to build up in your arteries (blood vessels). Saturated fats raise your LDL (bad) cholesterol. High LDL cholesterol increases your risk for heart disease and stroke.

@cicerone imposter,
Recently read "The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet" by Nina Teicholz.

"In this captivating, vibrant, and convincing narrative, based on a nine-year-long investigation, Teicholz shows how the misinformation about saturated fats took hold in the scientific community and the public imagination, and how recent findings have overturned these beliefs."

Interesting read. We treat ourselves to bacon on weekends (guilt-free).
