We also rollerskated (the old kind), bicycled, played baseball and basketball in the empty schoolyard.  Climbed around abandoned construction maybe a mile away..
											
 
					
				 
																			
						
														
					
												Played most of those.  We also played a game where we used a broom handle as a bat and a small piece of broom handle (about 2" long) as the ball.  We played very similar to a regular baseball game.  I forget what we called it, but it was (in hindsight) very dangerous.  I don't recall too many serious injuries.
