I am interested in both of your trips. I concur re the monuments, my husband and I walked the mall late. I don't remember how late, but that that we got back to our going-down-hill hotel across from the Watergate and went into the coffee shop around 2 a.m. Well, we walked the mall more than once, but that late night walk and the Vietnam Memorial in daytime were best re memory. (Not best in show, no.) Vietnam memorial at night? I'd be interested in people's reaction to that. Late night can be suffering hours in general.
