I have a HD ready pc monitor with HDMI socket. If I buy a freeview HD set top box with HDMI output will it give me freeview reception via an HDMI cable thus allowind me to use my PC monitor in my caravan as a TV.

Probably, but you would have to post the model of the monitor to be sure. You could probably look it up in the owner's manual or find the manual on-line.
