What is your favorite "Summer Reading" assignment?

I don't know about you all - but I read along with my daughter's summer reading. My older daughter is going into middle school so the literature is quite good. She is required to read 3 books. Two specific books and one she can pick from a large list of books. She had similar types of reading in previous years.

For her "pick" I convinced her to choose "The Black Stallion" which was my favorite series when I was about her age. It was that or "Old Yellar" another favorite of mine.
