We stayed in this village nearly three weeks last year - you get the fish'n chips as far as the eyes can see ... no, not in the shop but in the Ring O'Bells. (Padstow isn't far if you want to pay a fortune for upscale fish'n chips ...)

That's because it's Rick Stein's fiefdom.

@izzythepush,
If you don't mind, I add an anecdotal story from 1972.

On the way back from Scotland (with a German and a Scottish friend) we stayed in a pub in Salisbury. (They rented two rooms, too.) And since we arrived late, we didn't go out but had some drinks downstairs.
When the guests got to know from where we came, we became very friendly with them, because all and everyone had been with army where we lived in Germany.
At a quarter past 11 o'clock, two policemen came in - it wasn't only after drinking hour but we were rather loud ... I think, you could hear the hanky panky piano miles away.
Those policemen listened to us, told us to be a bit more quiet, left .... and returned at midnight to join us.

Since we didn't wake up before 4 o'clock in the afternoon(there must have been something wrong with the last glass of rough cider!), we couldn't make our planned sightseeing-tour through Salisbury: we had to be for tea at Poole that evening ...

@Walter Hinteler,
Actually if you're a guest at a pub/hotel the licencing laws regarding drinking times don't apply.

I used to work in a pub in Northumberland run by an ex-copper, and at the stroke of midnight the local constabulary would turn up for free drinks.

I'm fascinated by this hanky panky piano ...

what kind of music is played on a hanky panky piano?

Very Happy
