Ah, Athlone. My mother always told me that her mother's mother was the daughter of the Earl of Athlone. That made one of my older cousins laugh when I told him that decades later. There were some stories (about furniture) that made it sound possible, and that hearty laugh of the cousin to make me think it was a tall tale that my mother in turn had believed. Different parts of our irish bred family have different stories, all of the batch being fine grudge holders.
