Reply Mon 12 Jul, 2010 07:27 am
After fuckin with my schedule so we can go see Willie at the SOvereign Center in Reading Pa next week, the little **** has cancelled out. I hate when celebs get their schedules loaded with "possible" venues and then crap out after one of their bigger shows covers the bus ride.

I hope he sees this, the bastid. No need to respond cause Im pissed and Im liable to pull a setanta on you.

@farmerman,
I hope he's not sick - he's 77 years old-stuff can come up suddenly at that age.

And I really DO hope he's not sick - I have quite a lot of fondness for Willie.

Willie has been quite sick for a long time - but, Willie: don't go on tour if ya can't make your dates, man!

@Cycloptichorn,
Three weeks ago he was fine - I said to my daughter - Jeez, look how good he looks (she was there - I was watching it later with her - we recorded it from BBC tv)
Like I said - I hope he's okay. Stuff can come up quick when you're almost eighty...

Willie Nelson at Glastonbury 2010

Cramming 30 songs into an hour-long set, the outlaw country legend shows no sign of slowing down as he approaches 80

Dafydd Goff guardian.co.uk, Friday 25 June 2010

Still on the road ... Willie Nelson rolls into Glastonbury 2010. For his first Glastonbury appearance in 10 years, 77-year-old Nelson delivers a brisk stroll through his back catalogue, cramming in 30 songs in under an hour.
All the classics are present and correct: Whiskey River, Good Hearted Woman, On the Road Again, Crazy, Georgia On My Mind, Bloody Mary Morning, Crying, plus numerous nods to Hank Williams. A highlight of the set is the touching sight of Nelson trading licks with his "little sister" Bobbie Lee on piano. Armed with "Trigger", his battered relic of a guitar with a hole in the side, Nelson displays serious soloing skills, proving he is as much in thrall to jazz, blues and rock'n'roll as he is to country.

Who's watching: An audience sweltering in the kind of heat you would expect in Nelson's home state of Texas. Among a sea of straw hats is one fan wearing a "Willie for president" T-shirt. At the side of the stage, Rolf Harris takes pictures of his hero.
High point: During Always On My Mind, the typically stoic Nelson appears, if only briefly, to well up when the crowd joins in on the chorus. It's an uplifting moment, recalling the euphoria that greeted Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah at Glastonbury in 2008.
Low point: Rumours that Nelson was to be joined on stage by Snoop Dogg prove to be false. Sadly, Glastonbury will never get to hear the two marijuana-loving musicians performing a country take on Gin and Juice.

In a tweet: As he approaches 80, the Stetson-sporting, spliff-toting, Bush-baiting, outlaw-country legend shows no sign of slowing down.

@farmerman,
He has chronic carpal tunnel in a hand and a torn rotator cup in the shoulder. Both have caused him to cancel many shows this year.

@farmerman,
Tillis Pam
Tequila Mockingbird

It's a slow scene at teh country line cantina
Where strangers stop to hear her sing a song
she's a legend 'round these parts
for stealing all the hearts of cowboys on thier way to San Antone

(Bridge1)
She used to be a desert rose with ballerina toes
but that wasn't in the cards she chose to play
the pages of her life are wrinkled but her spanish eyes still twinkle
everytime she steps out on the stage

(Chorus)
Tequila mockingbird flying underneath the neon moon
tequila mockingbird dreaming of a love that ended too soon
she sings that saddesr song you ever heard
so bittersweet
tequila mockingbird

tequila mockingbird

well now once she had a man and they called him diamond man
he was wild and reckless as a mustang stud
'till one night Tequila found him with the gamblers gathered 'round him
Lyin' in a pool of cheater's blood

(Chorus)

she sings ooh woo hoo hoo
it wasn't god who made those blue neon angels
Ooh woo hoo hooh
I know he's waiting on the other side for me

(Chorus)

she sings ooh hoo woo hoo hoo
she sings ooh hoo woo hoo hoo ooh

I heard a radio piece saying many promoters overbooked this year and when the ticket sales didn't materialize, they started canceling shows or slashing ticket prices. Maybe you bought the only tickets.
