'Rolling Stone' just released
The RS 500 Albums (1-100)
(And my favourite LP is really on place No. 1: Sgt. Pepper!)
RollingStone: The RS 500 Albums (1-100)
An interesting list, Walter. Of course, open to much debate. But certainly fun to peruse!
Phoenix! I can't believe it! You're a Ramones fan!?!
(singing to myself) Rock, Rock, Rockaway Beach!
Swimpy- Isn't everyone!
I was nodding and negating with my head, as I ran through the list, when suddenly I found Buenavista Social Club, and I was dumbfounded.
We had rock, pop, reggae & jazz, which is what "Rolling Stone" magazine should have. And in the middle of it all we find a salsa record, as if the list was actually of the 500 top albums regardless of the genre.
Why "Buenavista Social Club"? Because Wim Wenders made a film of it.
They are good, and would have probably made the list anyhow, but when the editors of "Rolling Stone" actually listen to 500 salsa records (and I assure you, there are thousands), then they can choose a few of them for their list.
I bet they can't even distinguish generic salsa, from mambo, guaguancó, rumba, cha-cha-cha, vallenato, son, merengue, bachata, guajira or even cumbia.
No way I can agree with any list that includes the Beach Boys at the top.
Cmon edgar. Pet Sounds has always been considered a masterpiece damn near, hasn't it? You don't care for it? Them? What?
I do not like any Beach Boys songs at all.
My 14 year old has just discovered the Ramones! It's our current car driving music!
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat with a baseball bat
Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh-oh.
He says "I love that. It's so,--- random!" (Random is the word right now) What a great description of that song!
Not even "Little Duece Coupe", edgar?
Zilch, nada, nothing. I recall watching them on tv in the 60s. I told myself: "They're pretty awful. Oh, well, in a year or two they will be forgotten and I won't have to listen them anymore."
any list that does not include the HOLY MODAL ROUNDERS is not in touch with reality.
Or Trout Fishing in America
aww man appitite for destruction is only at 61?!?! and back in black at 73? Man god bless Guns N Roses and AC/DC!
