An interesting list, Walter. Of course, open to much debate. But certainly fun to peruse!

Quote:
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated
Nothin' to do and no where to go-o-oh I wanna be sedated
Just get me to the airport put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers I can't control my brain
Oh no no no no no
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go....
Just put me in a wheelchair and put me on a plane
Hurry hurry hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers I can't control my brain
Oh no no no no no
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go I wanna be sedated
Nothin' to do and no where to go-o-o I wanna be sedated
Just put me in a wheelchair get me to the show
Hurry hurry hurry before I gotta go
I can't control my fingers I can't control my toes
Oh no no no no no
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go...
Just put me in a wheelchair...
Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated
Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated
Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated
Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated

Now THAT's music that you can really appreciate! Laughing

I was nodding and negating with my head, as I ran through the list, when suddenly I found Buenavista Social Club, and I was dumbfounded.

We had rock, pop, reggae & jazz, which is what "Rolling Stone" magazine should have. And in the middle of it all we find a salsa record, as if the list was actually of the 500 top albums regardless of the genre.

Why "Buenavista Social Club"? Because Wim Wenders made a film of it.
They are good, and would have probably made the list anyhow, but when the editors of "Rolling Stone" actually listen to 500 salsa records (and I assure you, there are thousands), then they can choose a few of them for their list.
I bet they can't even distinguish generic salsa, from mambo, guaguancó, rumba, cha-cha-cha, vallenato, son, merengue, bachata, guajira or even cumbia.

No way I can agree with any list that includes the Beach Boys at the top.

My 14 year old has just discovered the Ramones! It's our current car driving music!

Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat
Beat on the brat with a baseball bat
Oh yeah, oh yeah, uh-oh.

He says "I love that. It's so,--- random!" (Random is the word right now) What a great description of that song!

Zilch, nada, nothing. I recall watching them on tv in the 60s. I told myself: "They're pretty awful. Oh, well, in a year or two they will be forgotten and I won't have to listen them anymore."
