My younger brother sadly passed away just over a week ago, and us older four siblings are just coming out of the shock of it all.
I don't wish to go into any detail, apart from the fact that such moments bring one's thoughts about mortality somewhat into sharp focus.
I was the next one up, two years older and his co-conspirator in mischief making throughout our early years. He was one of the funniest people I've ever had the good fortune to know.
One song that keeps playing over and over in my mind at the moment, takes me back to the seemingly never ending hot summer of '63.
Trev and I had patched up the tiny bicycle we had both learned to ride on, and both got on it to ride it on the footpath adjoining the wheat field opposite our family home. How a five and seven year old fitted onto it gawd only knows, as it was designed for a three year old.
We naturally found the whole escapade hilarious.
On the way back, freewheeling downhill on that footpath, not a soul around, we sang the song that was all the rage at that time, at the top of our voices. I'm going to miss him dreadfully.
So sorry to hear about your loss. It's an awful thing to lose a brother.

@Lordyaswas,
Rhino records called it as the most representative song of the 20th century (tied with Stardust)
Sorry to hear your bad news lord. How is your boy coping with the antipodes?

@Lordyaswas,
Lovely tribute Lord. Your brother was a lucky brother to have you.
