I don't care for the rap music ***. The Nu Wrap bothers me, but I do like older rap like 2-Pac, Snoop, NWA, and most of all Public Enemy. Rap has gone from a device to discuss social problems, to a huge pool of made up words.

Nothing at the moment, but yesterday I bought Muddy Waters, Johnny Cash, Bill Withers and Parliament CDs. It's been a fun coupla days.
Oooohhh...Muddy Waters...Yesss!
Which Muddy Waters cd?
Right now I'm listening to Betty Davis (Miles' ex) "They Say I'm Different" and "Sinatra at the Sands" with Count Basie.
eoe - I didn't know M.W. well enough to pick a CD so I bought the Scorsese/PBS M.W. compilation CD. I'll go from there. Any suggestions?
Hobitbob, didn't see ya in there. yeeeeaaaahhhhhh....
I always have loved the blues, but never really investigated. It's high time I do.
ooooo, you've got THAT cd.
Electric Mud is my favorite Muddy Waters cd. It's when he "electrified" many of his old standards "I'm a Man", etc. A cross between the 50's and the 60's. Pretty great. The cover features photos of him getting his hair "done" by Quo Vadis, a reknown barber/hair stylist on the West Side of Chicago back in the day. My aunt used to date him.
The cover is a hoot in itself.
In my cd changer I've got:
Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy
Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool
Archangelo Corelli - Concerti Grossi Op.6, 1-6
Low Fidelity All Stars - Don't Be Afraid of Love
Ravel - Chamber Music
Rainbow - Rising
I was replaying Star Gazer over and over, but now I'm keying on the Corelli.
Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun
Zakk Wylde-Machine Gun Man
eoe! That makes me only 4ยบ seperated from Muddy Waters! Yeah, the CD was a cop-out, but I don't have a lot of spare cash to investigate further. I did want to pick up Electric Mud. Many of the songs on the CD I have are from the electrified era.
little k, what cop-out?! I didn't watch the Blues documentary, unfortunately, but if it was anything like his Jazz doc, you've probably got yourself a very good CD indeed. Have you listened to it yet?
