No. I believe she died right before the birth of her first grandchild. Kate and Anna McGarrigle we huge in the Canadian music scene.
Do you know Louden Wainwright III he's Martha's dad and Rufus is her brother. Music definitely runs through their genes.

@Ceili,
Yes I've heard of Louden.
She was definitely born to sing.
Not too familiar with Rufus. I'll check him out.
And that is a heartbreaker.

I love this song

This is his version of Cohen's Hallelujah

The ironically named Rufus is a Tit Man...

@eurocelticyankee,
That's awesome, not that she died but that she was able to see the next generation.

@Ceili,
Yeah I really like the first song. Only Cohen should sing Hallelujah.
I seen Cohen this summer, Amazing.
Rufus is a tit man, Hmm so at least he's normal.

@eurocelticyankee,
Nope, that song was written when he was a babe. Even his dad acknowledges the irony now...
KD sang the most beautiful version of that song, I had shivers listening to her during the olympic ceremony.

@eurocelticyankee,
Not to add to the overstated, but I do listen to the coolest radio station. All the dj's program their own shows and I seriously hear the best of the best, regardless of the style. CKUA. Check it out on the net.

@Ceili,
I listened to it the other day when you posted it. I wasn't sure, is it a conventional radio station with news, current affairs, adverts or is it a music download station.?

@eurocelticyankee,
No, it's the oldest public radio station in Canada. Mostly music. They have a bit of news, mostly local and a daily broadcast of the BBC. It's an odd station. I don't love all the shows, but there is enough to keep me coming back for more. The website will give you more info. Very few adverts, nobody yelling about great deals on cars or mattresses. They have a huge library. I've been in it and was amazed at the diversity.

@Ceili,
OK. I'll check it out and dig deeper. To be honest I usually only listen to radio for sport and maybe some current affairs. Usually in the car.
Ceili, It's been nice, chat again. I'm hitting the leaba. You take care.
Slan Leat.

@Ceili,
Adding CKUA to my favorites tab to check out. Ceili, I miss my station in Seattle -- KEXP -- for same reasons: no commercials, programming by DJs largely on the fly, actually took requests. They've got very eclectic programming but with a definite indie/hipster/rockabilly/conscious hip hop leaning, worth checking out if it suits you at all. They also do a ton of live in-studio performances and broadcast from music venues and festivals a great deal, almost all of which is available in archives...
