Wow, I've been getting a lot more of my old vinyl digitally and this really took me back:

Rainy Season - Howard Devoto

Howard was never going to be a pop star...

Nine Inch Nails, Pretty Hate Machine, over and over. A nostalgic last purchase at my favorite hometown record store, which closes for good in February. A tribute thread to come.

@aidan,
great stuff....though I wish we didn't have to play keyboards instead of real pianos and B3 Hammonds

@panzade,
here's someone my daughter introduced me to
Brother ali - Uncle same Goddam
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OO18F4aKGzQ

I hesitated to play it right now with all the anti-American stuff on the forum) even if it's tongue in cheek, I think it might bring out a little defensiveness.

But, I'm not anti-American- we have our problems but we have our strengths too, and I wouldn't have chosen to have grown up anyplace else.

But I think this guy is a major talent - good writer, good showman, love his backing band, like the video (and can't say that none of it's not true)

*I thought that organ worked alright in this - sometimes I'm not as keen on it - but I liked it in that video. Gilliam is amazing - it was almost like he was using the palm of his hand and still hitting all the right notes.

here's someone my daughter just introduced me to

@Merry Andrew,
That couldn't be the Sibelius: Symphonies No 1 & 7 with Maazel, Pittsburgh?
I don't know if Maazel completed the cycle with the Pittsburgh, but I think my favorite is the Jansons/Oslo Symphony set.
