Good god I suck at intros

But I'll try my hand at one anyway. Oh let's see, where should I begin?

I'm a LaVeyan Satanist, though for most of my life I've been an Atheist. I was raised in a Christian family, though I've never considered myself Christian. I have read the Bible, the Koran, the Satanic Bible, and an assortment of other religious literature scattered across the far reaches of the internet and Barnes & Noble bookstores.

At the moment I am trying to better my understanding of Eastern religions and the occult. My hobbies include all things vampires and werewolves, writing stories (mostly about vampires and werewolves), playing RTS and space shooter video games (StarFox, FTW!!), and forum Role-Play (and if you can't guess by now which kind I generally aim for, you need your head examined).

So, uh, yeah, hi.Very Happy

Dunno. There are just no equivalent sayings in English that I would know to use.

@FormicHiveQueen,
nice to meet you FHQueen.. what with all the christians crawling about.. its nice to be able to hear a different view. i was also raised in a christian home.. got all kindsa screwed up lol.. and i recently walked away from the faith.. from god.. from religion altogether.. it's pretty interesting here.. loads of information. i think im gonna stop posting for a while.. and just read lol.. i cant seem to keep religion out of the equation.. it's that religious residue lol.. i read quite a bit of the satanic bible.. while i was still a christian.. and i was pleasantly surprised.. it didnt change my mind at the time lol.. but it gave me a better understanding.. it didnt stir up hate toward worshippers of satan either.. looking back.. i think i was in awe.. of the freedom... right now im in the process of finding what i believe anymore. i spent years in confusion.. so im still a little fuzzy.. but definitely nice to have you here.. i look forward to asking you questions lol.. -melissa

Er, I don't see why it would. Satanists don't worship Satan (or any deity for that matter...). Devil-worship to me is as ridiculous a concept as god-worship.

Selfism and Satanism are the same thing, though... You are your own god in Satanism, so to speak. The idea is that if you exalt a god, you get no benefit. Exalt yourself, and you get tangible benefits (money spent on yourself is usually money well spent!).

@FormicHiveQueen,
absolutely.. if i could go back and take back all the money i spent on the pastors.. i'd be pretty damn well off lol.. religion is a billion dollar enterprise.. and i agree. .that if people put more effort into themselves.. rather than so much effort into pleasing what very well might not be there.. happiness and success would taste that much sweeter.. when i had the "flash" moment.. i had never heard the term "selfist".. or "selfism" i knew about humanism..lol.. damnit i thought i was being clever at the time.
i was homeschooled for most of my life.. so i didnt get out much haha

Theistic satanists do exist. They're usually referred to as Luciferians.

Okay, then they're Luciferians, not Satanists.

*facepalm*

They were Satanists before you were. LeVay is why we even have the term 'atheistic satanism'. They are true satanists,. You are not., for you do not worship Satan/Lucifer.

No, LaVey was the first to ever use the word "Satanism", therefore LaVey Satanists are the first ones.

@FormicHiveQueen,
so.. luciferians Do worship "satan" as the devil.. the enemy of "god" .. but satanists.. DO NOT.. .. im trying to understand all these damn terms lol.. so theist satanist.. and theist christians.. all believe that there is a god and a satan.... deist christians... they believe that there is a god.. but that he doesnt bother with human affairs.. he created the world.. and then went about his business elsewhere lol.. while theist christians believe that god is still very much a part of the world.. answering prayers.. such shiit as that.. ok.. i think im coming around..

so why are satanists called.. satanists.. if they dont actually worship satan.. is it the "shock factor"? lol

The word Satan is the Jewish word for adversary or accuser. Satanism is a religion opposed to the teachings of all the right-hand religions (i.e. so-called sins are encouraged, enlightenment comes through gratification instead of deprivation, etc.).

deist christians...

Do not exists, for Deism assumes a god who does interfere,a and therefore rejects 'prohets', 'revelations' and all other pillars of the Christian faith aside from the existence of deity.
