You'd be surprised dlowan, a very savvy user can be tricked if he/she is not checking the URL in the browser widow when signing in.

I've heard programmers and net old timers fall for this.

Every time you sign in. Kinda like how you should make sure you are entering the right house when you try to open the door.

Just trying to illustrate the concpt deb, it's not like you should check once a week or something. That would be like making sure you dial the right number on the phone once a week.

LOL, I just think I won't be able to strike the perfect balance between explaining it in a simple way so that you aren't paranoid (as you say) about it and making it not sound so elementary that it elicits the grrs (a pet peeve of mine, this animal stuff).

One of the ways I avoid clicking on fraudueltn webistes is that I only use websites in my bookmark folders - which go in there only I have checked them and found them to be genuine. Never open known sites from emails.

Some days ago, I got a spam email with the address of <the company I work for>.com asking to send them my Credit card number and PIN !!! Had a good laugh abt that one !!!

Well, baby talk can be friendly too, and it's also the pet-peeve of some. Grrs 'didn't used to' be a pet peeve but it is now since I imagine that it's not dissimilar to trying to talk to a pitbull. Nuthin' undriendly implied, just an idiosyncrasy. I'm sure some of mine are the pet peeve of others (like my spelling).
