Can Religious Christians be Good Americans !?

JESUS CAMP is a disturbing, Oscar nominated documentary about a kids camp for the American children of religious extremist Christian Evangelicals. The fact that the film contains no footage of anything that the pre-teen camp members are exposed to, yet it carries a certificate PG-13, says it all. Kids At Jesus Camp Worship to a G. W. Bush Picture and are taught HATE and Violence!

Watch here the ABC News Report about the film:

@SWORD of GOD,
Do you think such a "camp" has any following or support from mainstream Christians?
It is certainly not the same thing as similar camps or groups in the Muslim world that either have the support of the leaders or at least are purposely unnoticed by mainstream Muslims.
I am certain Bush has nothing to do with that group. It only shows that there are extremists in every group.

But Christianity teaches that only God is worthy of our worship, and also teaches that we should love, not hate. These extremists are just crazy and cannot be representative of Christianity as a whole.

@SWORD of GOD,
Those people, first of all, aren't 'religious Christians', they are crazy. Second, though they are still crazy, half the claims made about the place are false (i.e., they do not say they worship Bush, they "pray over him" and for him.)

@SWORD of GOD,
Sure they can be good Americans.

That means they try not to infringe on anyone's freedom.

They can, but it's likely they never will.

Yes, crazy, hmm.

Yes, sounds pretty mainstream.

Christianity is pure superstition, and history has shown how superstition can be harmful.

It leads to "crazy" behavior like flying planes into buildings, wasting your Sundays in non-fun ways, or ABSTINENCE! :thumbdown:

I'm surprised the Libraries at the Mosque had room for such texts, usually the shelves are full of books on how "To Beat the Wife" videos of foul Imams and Mufties teaching hatred and spewing pure violent bile regarding Jew dogs and us Evil Infidels. Islam is currently the only Religion world wide killing in the name of their Fake Prophet, Christians learned one hundred years ago that violence wasn't the answer. When will your backward barbaric religion grow up and stop slaughtering fellow Muslims (for not being Muslim enough) Jews Christians and non-believers. Globally no one is safe from the evil perpretrated by Radical Islam. Your religion needs to grow the pluck up and stop killing in the name of Allah. You are all going to end in the fires of hell and their's no virgins in hell. Just Demons.

The BBC presents 'Why We Fight' by Charlotte Street, a documentary film on the commerce of war, and how the military industrial complex profits so much from war, that it must create wars to continue the growth of it's business. A classic must-see film.

What are the forces that shape and propel American militarism?
This award-winning film provides an inside look at the anatomy of the American war machine.
Is American foreign policy dominated by the idea of military supremacy? Has the military become too important in American life?

Analysis: US Church Shaken by Sex Scandals

BBC News, Tuesday, 16 April, 2002.

By BBC News Online's Peter Gould.

BBC News | AMERICAS | Analysis: US Church shaken by sex scandals

The decision by the Pope to summon his American cardinals to Rome is a measure of his concern over the damage being done by the sex abuse scandal.

Allegations across the United States have created a crisis of trust for the Church, with claims that senior clerics failed to take action for years.

Some dioceses have already paid out millions of dollars to settle law suits brought by victims. And abusers are now facing prosecution in the criminal courts.

BBC News, Monday, 8 April, 2002

BBC News | AMERICAS | US priests suspended over sex claims

Six Roman Catholic priests have been suspended from duty in the United States because of past allegations of sexual misconduct.
The Archdiocese of New York has not released the priests' names, because not all the allegations have been substantiated.

The Catholic Church in the United States has been rocked in recent months by accusations of child sex abuse involving priests, and is facing mounting criticism that it covered up those cases for decades.
