For those that have used MP3.com in the past - it looks like they are closing up shop. Their MP3 distribution and CD sales have all been sold to CNET and apparently CNET is going to merge it all into a new music distribution site they are working on.
MP3.com will cease to exist over the next few weeks.
Hmm. . . you know, while I like mp3.com, I also really like CNET, and they usually do pretty good stuff. So it might not be a total disaster.
Though the growing number of legal mp3 sites on the web is becoming a little silly, I think. . .
I got an e-mail announcement this morning from MP3.com but haven't seen anything from CNET yet saying what they plan on doing with with the capability yet. They've been buying a lot of sites and it looks like they are trying to build a compete well rounded Internet Media outlet, (i.e. News, games, music, Internet Radio, Shopping, etc..).
Ahhhhh. . .
. . . it's gonna flop. :-)
