Dys was playing Pink Floyd--we both were blown away, as always.
XTC Drums & Wires
English Beat
Talking Heads Fear of Music (not all trips have to be good)
-skinny black tie days-
Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells
Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind
Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
Swimp I haven't heard that album in years, but I'm going looking for it now. It really is a great one. Ebay here I come.
A guy in Bar Harbor Maine has a copy of the cd never opened......I'm watching it...
"Graveyard Train", by CCR. A relatively unknown song, but one hell of a catchy tune.
Speaking of It's a Beautiful Day (White Bird), a favorite, their version of the Dolphins in Marrying Maiden is great, too.
Speaking of Pink Floyd - I love Roger Waters'
Albums, Amused To Death and Radio K-A-O-S.
Collected all Dire Straits and Jethro Tull albums back then. The Moody Blues, too.
Aah, there are just too many to list.
And don't forget, Puccini and everything by Verdi.
And Rachmaninoff.
Astral Weeks (full album) - Van Morisson, and, not quite sure about a contact high, but Van's T.B. Sheets does give me the chills.
That initial feedback hum of Born on the Bayou and then that old tube-amb vibrato riff before the whole band kicks in. bongbongbongbong
But I repeat myself.
I might have mentioned this one earlier, but here it is. The first LP I really listened to. If pressed, I could probably recall all the words now--including the ads they created!
"Oh God," Jethro Tull
"Elyria" Faith and the Muse
"Hounds of Love" Kate Bush
"Canon" Pachelbell
etc...
Raggedy Aggie -- Thanks for reminding me - how could I have forgotten the Moody Blues?
Days of Future Past -- Tuesday afternoon.
Bear, There's a remastered version that came out a few years ago.
Anything that I can heartily sing.
Poco
"If it seems to you that I am fadin'..."
The Residents.....dang near forgot about them and those wacky outfits....
I would also nominate:
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Dr. John - Gris Gris
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life (could this possibly be the best Stevie album ever?)
