Boat drinks!
Boys in the band ordered boat drinks.
Visitors scored on the home rink.
Everything seems to be wrong.

Lately, newspaper mentioned cheap air fare.
I gotta to fly to saint somewhere.
I'm close to bodily harm.

Twenty degrees and the hockey game's on.
Nobody cares they are way too far gone.
Screamin' boat drinks, something to keep'em all warm.

This mornin', I shot six holes in my freezer.
I think I got cabin fever.
Somebody sound the alarm.

I'd like to go where the pace of life's slow.
Could you beam me somewhere Mr. Scott?
Any ol' place here on earth or in space.
You pick the century and I'll pick the spot.

Oh I know, (I know)
I should be leaving this climate.
I got a verse but can't rhyme it
I gotta go where it's warm

Boat drinks!
Waitress I need two more boat drinks.
Then I'm headin' south 'fore my dream shrinks.

I gotta go where there ain't any snow,
Where there ain't any blow,
'cause my fin sinks so low,
I gotta go where it's WARM!

This one's for her ...

Quote:
"Standing In The Doorway"

I'm a-walkin' through the summer nights
The jukebox playing low
Yesterday everything was goin' too fast
Today it's moving too slow.

I got no place left to turn
I got nothing left to burn
Don't know if I saw you
If I would kiss you or kill you
It probably wouldn't matter to you anyhow
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
I got nothing to go back to now.

The light in this place is so bad
Makin' me sick in the head
All the laughter is just makin' me sad
The stars have turned cherry red.

I'm strummin' on my gay guitar
Smokin' a cheap cigar
The ghost of our old love has not gone away
Don't look it like it will any time soon
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Under the midnight moon.

Maybe they'll get me, and maybe they won't
But not tonight and it won't be here
There are things I could say but I don't
I know the mercy of God must be near.

I've been ridin' the midnight train
Got ice water in my vein.

I would be crazy if I took you back
It would go up against every rule
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Sufferin' like a fool.

When the last rays of daylight go down
Buddy you're older or more
I can hear the church bells ringin' in the yard
I wonder who they're ringin' for?

I know I can't win
But my heart just won't give in.

Last night I danced with a stranger
But she just reminded me you were the one.

You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
In the dark land of the sun.

I'll eat when I'm hungry
Drink when I'm dry
And live my life on the square
And even if the flesh falls off of my face
I know someone will be there to care.

It always meaned so much, even the softest touch.

I see nothin' to be gained by any explanation
There's no words that need to be said
You left me standin' in the doorway cryin'
Blues wrapped around my head.

Yeah but nobody searches
Nobody cares somehow
When the loving that you've wasted
Comes raining from a hapless cloud
And I might stop and look upon your face
Disappear in the sweet, sweet gaze
See the living that surrounds me
Dissipate in a violet place

Can't you see what you've done to my heart
And soul?
This is a wasteland now

We spies
We slow hands
Put the weights around yourself
We spies
Oh yeah we slow hands
You put the weights all around yourself now

I submit my incentive is romance
I watched the pole dance of the stars
We rejoice because the hurting is so painless
From the distance of passing cars
But I am married to your charms & grace
I just go crazy like the good old days
You make me want to pick up a guitar
And celebrate the myriad ways that I love you

This is a wasteland now...

"Love Song"
The Cure

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am home again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am whole again

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am young again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you
Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you

Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am free again
Whenever I'm alone with you
You make me feel like I am clean again

However far away
I will always love you
However long I stay
I will always love you

Whatever words I say
I will always love you
I will always love you

It's great to be in love isn't it?

This song has been played way too much, but it really does seem to strike a chord with me. I went out and bought the album. Somehow, I'd never owned a Green Day album before. It sounds a bit mellow dramatic on paper, I think it's less so when you hear the song.

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

this song seems to sum up my life right now

nothing seems clear

Invisible Ink
by Aimee Mann

There comes a time when you swim or sink
So I jumped in the drink
Cuz I couldn't make myself clear

Maybe I wrote in invisible ink
Oh I've tried to think
How I could have made it appear

But another illlustration is wasted
Cuz the results are the same
I feel like a ghost who's trying to move your hands
over some Ouija board in the hopes I can spell out my name

What some take for magic at first glance
Is just sleight of hand depending on what you believe
Something gets lost when you translate
It's hard to keep straight
Perspective is everything

And I know now which is which and what angle I oughta look at it from
I suppose I should be happy to be misread-
Better be that than some of the other things I have become

But nobody wants to hear this tale
The plot is clichéd, the jokes are stale
And baby we've all heard it all before
Oh i could get specific but
Nobody needs a catalog
With details of love I can't sell anymore

And aside from that, this chain of reaction,
baby, is losing a link
Though I'd hope you'd know what I tried to tell you
And if you don't I could draw you a picture in invisible ink

But nobody wants to hear this tale
The plot is clichéd, the jokes are stale
And baby we've all heard it all before
Oh i could get specific but
Nobody needs a catalog
With details of love I can't sell anymore

Brilliant of them to rework a mambo tune from the 50's.

I do too. The whole disc is pretty good, though the young'un at the counter seemed to think it was bad.

I hadn't heard it til I heard Diane Krall sing it. She's a jazz pianist and singer. It's such a haunting tune that i went out and collected 6 different versions.

Kay Starr does it in a tango style back in the 50's. Really a tear jerker.
For cheesy you gotta hear Esquivel a Mexican arranger popular in the lounge style of the 50's. His is done in a cha-cha beat.
Then there's Tony Bennett who does it torch style in a tango arrangement too.

Tommy!
The song describing my life would have to be Tommy:

He laughs with a passion
and falls with a fashion
He acts all wild
and smiles with style
He's the kind of guy that your parents hate
He's the kind of guy
every good girl wants to date
Chorus: Tommy
theres summin about you
That i won't forget
Tommy
I love whatever that you do
And when he makes me laugh
I know i won't regret
falling hard for Tommy
You can tell whenever he's around
Just by the feeling in the air
Every lil girlie worships his ground
And all the guys sit and stare
He's got a mohawk and spikes
and loves his board
If you make him mad he might bite
And if he loves you he'll play you a chord
Chorus times two
I got my eye on tommy
and he's got his eye on me
i gave my heart to tommy
and he gave his to me
I told him he wouldn't be sorry
He told me that he loved me
and caught me when i fell
Tommy i love tommy
Sorry but i got tommy
Chorus times two
Tommy

AAAH! I Love it! I love it!! Don't you??
