what do snails eat

It depends somewhat on whether it is a land snail or an aquatic snail. Both land and water snails are mainly herbivorous, which means they eat plant life

I have land snails in my garden and they eat the leaves of my plants. They are pests in the garden and ruin the appearance of plants.

Water snails, such as the type you might put in an aquarium, mainly feed on the algae that will naturally grow on the inside of your fish tank or fish bowl. If you have any plants in the aquarium, they can also devour those too.

I have some big white snails in one of my aquariums.

to keep them off of my plants, I feed them green beans.

People who keep aquariums might have a snail or two to eat the algae.

As others have written, they eat pants and algae; however, be careful 'cause they breed fairly quickly. When they do, you can end up with way too many snails in just a few months.

You're very welcome. Good luck with that aquarium. By the way, doing this activity is a great learning experience for anyone of any age. If you have no live plants in aquarium, it's not so much of an issue. However, adding at least a few live hardy plants is wise, but it's not easy for beginners to get them to root well and grow.
