@edgarblythe,
But, on the credit side, some beautiful filming in that ad. Must cost a packet to produce!

@msolga,
I've seen all the Bob Dylan commercials on TV. It's no hoax.

@edgarblythe,
"What tastes good IS good."

So true! Razz

And Donovan, too!

I'd guess that the rights to the music (in quite a number of cases) would have been out of the hands of the musicians years ago?

@msolga,
The song in Victoria's Secret is not very old.

@edgarblythe,
Yes, you're right edgar

"I'm sick of love, I wish I'd never met you!"

It is probably her fetching underwear & not love at all, that's Bob's problem in that ad. He looks so unhappy, trying to forget! Very Happy Sad

If so, just curious: what did you think?
Appropriate?
I DID check out the co-op ad in your first post.
I don't care.
I 'd lost interest somewhat in popular music before Dylan came on the scene,
of whose presence, or existence, I was only very peripherally aware.
He never meant much of anything to me. There were a lot of singers.

Anyway, I was actively on the other ideological side,
working for Ike, Nixon and Goldwater over those years.

No; we did not make much use of music, that I remember; the National Anthem.

Neither did Stevenson, Kennedy, nor Johnson.

That's a shame. Music would have been good! Smile

You never know, with the right soundtrack Nixon might even have beaten Kennedy!

We were too busy arguing philosophy, foreign policy and domestic.
We did not think of it. We were in the middle of the 3rd World War
and we took that very, very seriously. We did not think of singing.

He DID beat Kennedy.
The election was stolen in Texas and in Chicago.
Mayor Daily never tired of bragging about it.

Oh OK, I'll take your word for that, David.

Absolutely terrible when that sort of thing happens! Tsk, tsk ..!

Have you seen any good advertisements which have included any popular music recently?

I abhored him & his entourage

Not that I remember, but I have not been on the alert for it.

@edgarblythe,
Surprised I really liked that one, edgar!

Not a bad little bit of film making.

And it doesn't even make you think of Pepsi at all! Wink

And I'll bet Pepsi commercials never sounded so good, edgar!

Interesting, I appear to be taking rather a shine to Pepsi commercials! Confused Very Happy Wink

Seriously, some of them are terrific.

@edgarblythe,
Nilson, edgar!

(You're enjoying yourself, I can see! Very Happy )

Hey, I liked that one (a lot!), too!

(should I start worrying? Wink )

Interesting though, in some of the more "quality" advertisements, you'd hardly know what was being sold. I wonder what the companies' market research tells them? "People loved the ad, but couldn't recall what we were actually selling"?
Or perhaps these sorts of advertisements do actually sell the product? Maybe out of gratitude for a bit of taste & subtlety? Wink

It'd be interesting to know.

I have learned to tune out the advertiser's information pretty much.
I read of the Dylan Victoria's Secret ad, that polls showed women preferred that particular ad over the other ones they made at the time.
