The easiest way to figure out percentages is to see how many things you'd have if it were out of 100 instead of the original number.
So,
If 12 students in class are girls, then 13 are boys.
If you had a class 4 times as big - 100 students - with the same proportions, you'd have 48 girls and 52 boys.
So your answer is 52%, or just over half.
