Bob Dylan canceled a leg of his Asia tour after the Chinese government refused him permission to play scheduled gigs in Shanghai and Beijing later this month, according to an Agence France-Presse report.

Wow! Considering how Chinese opera sounds to Western ears, this is amazing.

@dyslexia,
****, hes too fuckin old for a gig in China where the 3rd quartile age is still under 35. The only people who even give a **** about this guy are in state homes for the insane and elderly (a fine distinction between the two)

@farmerman,
Dylan is definately not for old people. He's for their parents.

Chinese society seems easily threatened, no?

Poor guy. He took a walk before a concert recently on a foggy, misty evening, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Neighbors saw this hooded figure and complained to the police, who sent a cruiser to pick up this old guy walking around.

He had no identification on him. After all, he was just walking in a suburban neighborhood. The police asked him who he was and he answered, "Bob Dylan."

They probably thought he was a smart ass . . . can I write that here? Surprised they didn't recognize him.

@plainoldme,
I read about that, it was a few years ago, or by now maybe more than a few years.

@ossobuco,
I love those best and worst dressed columns after big events like the Academy Awards. Some actress wore a white feathered dress to either the AA or the Golden Globes. I suggested it was the daughter of Bjork's swan dress which Bjork has said she wore as a joke.

Here's the scientific evidence for farmerman's definitive statement

It's from 1999.

How does one qualify to get into a state home?
