@Region Philbis,
After 50 years of RS fandom, I’ve learned that having a gritty CLUTCH veteran stopper (or 2) that doesn’t show cracks in September is an essential. I think 🤔 they have that now but is it wishful thinking 💭?

I get concerned about pitchers that throw 95 mph regularly and their longevity especially in playoffs and WS. Those that can throw that speed regularly sometimes lose the tail on their fastball and get tagged by those tougher competitive quality playoff hitters.

Of course all of this is a moot point if starter Chris Sale is not his usual self during the playoffs and WS.

another unbelievable comeback yesterday.

brandon phillips (wearing number zero) made the most of a spot start at second,
hitting a go-ahead two-run bomb in the ninth...

@Region Philbis,
What is the Red Sox's 2018 win/loss vs the Yankees and ... vs Oakland?
Trying to figure out who would be the easier Wild Card challenger.

@tsarstepan,

neither team would be a cake-walk.

we're 8-5 against NYY, with 6 games still to be played...
2-4 against oakland...

oakland's starting pitching is in disarray -- Manaea is the latest to bite the dust...

yankees still waiting for Judge's wrist to fully heal...

@Region Philbis,
Yankees even if they had Judge would be in their usual late season slump. The two for the wild card should soon be giving Oakland the advantage.

not sure what's more remarkable -- us winning 106... or baltimore being 60 games back!

@Region Philbis,
Tons of fun was watching Bill 'Spaceman' Lee, Oil Can Boyd or Bernie Carbo. What this team has is talent that is rewarding us with wins. This is LOVE!

Here are some Bernie Carbo tales:
"The Cardinals sent Carbo and Rick Wise to the Red Sox for Reggie Smith and Ken Tatum. He said of coming to Boston: "When I first met [Red Sox owner] Mr. Yawkey, he was shining shoes in the clubhouse," said Carbo, "and I went up to him and gave him $20 and told him to get me a cheeseburger and fries."
While playing for the Red Sox, he was a part of the "Buffalo Heads", with Bill "Spaceman" Lee and Ferguson Jenkins. Carbo would also carry around a giant stuffed gorilla that was named Mighty Joe Young. The gorilla sat next to him in the middle seat on planes. Carl Yastrzemski wanted the gorilla placed on the bat rack in the dugout."

It was nice of the red Sox to help the Yankees break one of their records .
