What is the name of the book in which the hero wakes up in the trenches of WWI? He goes back in time several times but doesn't know why. The author wrote several books in the 1980s (I think) with the same character.
If it were World War 2, I would guess "Slaughterhouse Five."
Sounds like the plot of 12 monkeys, but I don't know if that was a novel originally...
