I can't imagine a need to root that would be worth the risk of bricking the Droid or voiding the warranty. You "modders" go right ahead... I was nervous enough force installing the update!

Forced Upgrade is different from rooting. With Rooting you're actually messing with the phone's programming (like eliminating Corporate Calendar if you don't use it) and messing with the OS. Very tricky and - IMHO - risky.

The upgrade is simply a revision of the OS, and I forced the phone to install it instead of waiting for the OTA upgrade. You're not necessarily messing around with the code... just putting it on the phone.
