Name-Chain Competition

Hi! I've no idea if this has been done before on this forum, but my game involves linking the names of famous people, using the surname of one as the first name of the next, creating the longest chain possible.

For example: Boy George Michael Douglas Adams
- which is (obviously) Boy George + George Michael + Michael Douglas + Douglas Adams

Another example would be: Ben Elton John Wayne Newton

You have to use people you could expect would be recognized internationally - not local celebrities (and in the example above I'm assuming that the comedian and best-selling author Ben Elton is about as well-known in the States as he is in the U.K. and Australia). And I'm not sure fictional names should be allowed, though it certainly widens the possibilities (eg. Eddie Murphy + Murphy Brown, etc) - any thoughts on that?

Anyway, the object is to create the longest possible chain - so good luck!

P.S. One last example (just to get it out of my system):
Eddie Albert Gore Vidal Sassoon - See? Easy! Smile

Sounds like a great game. Since you didn't give a starting name to work from, I'll give one! Smile

Hmm, can't find anyone that spells their first name Allen with an easy last name...

Steve Allen Ginsberg

Here's the next one:

Elizabeth Taylor

Clarification
Hey, great to see that I'm getting a response to my game already, but I should point out that I was actually expecting individuals to work on their own chain and compete against others to try to come up with the longest.

Personally, I think it may be very difficult to produce a lengthy chain if multiple people are working on a single chain (but I'm happy to be proven wrong!).

I guess if kings are acceptable, so are saints and popes, so.....

Eva Marie Saint Stephen King Harold Lloyd Alexander Pope John Paul Simon Peter Gabriel Garcia Marquez

(For those who may not know him, Lloyd Alexander is the prolific writer of 'young adult' fantasy novels like 'The Black Cauldron' - which became that Disney film in the 80's....)

Also, since fealola has set a precedent for fictional names (John Boy), here's a shorter chain, starting with a cartoon character:

Samurai Jack Daniel Pearl S. Buck Henry James T. Kirk Douglas Coupland

Whew! I'm gonna rest now....

Can you also make a name cycle instead of a chain?

It's a name chain in which the first name of the first person is the same as the last name of the last person: A chain that bites itself in its tail.

Example
Here is an example, based on one of fealola's chains. However I don't like 'king' because it's not a name:

King Henry James Dean Martin Luther King ..... etc
