Start by asking your family what they know.
1) his full name
2) birthdate
3) where was the marriage held?
4) where did they get divorced.

Get your birth certificate. His name may be on it along with other information as to where he was born. (Depends upon the State.)

That should give you something to go on.

That 's very true. 30 years ago, I sought to find a girl
who meant a lot to me, with whom I 'd lost contact.
I called my private investigator n gave him her name (maiden name),
last known address from 20 years before that, at 10 AM.
He had a full biografical report on her including her current name,
current address and fone number before lunchtime. Very modest price, too.
