Does it get completely dark at night in Banff? Is it at all affected by the Northern Lights?

Darkness depends on the season, in the summer in the prairies to the east - not so much because they have 15/16 hours of sunlight but the mountains block most of the light, so yes it gets dark. In the dead of winter, the sun sets about 5pm and then the nights are as black as coal... As for the lights, Banff is a little too far south. If you want to see the lights you have to go further north.

PS.. Banff is in Alberta, not BC.
