Slaughter of the Dissidents: The Shocking Truth About Killing the Careers of Darwin Doubters:

Quote:

Slaughter of the Dissidents is the first of a multi-volume series that reveals a coordinated attack upon a particular religious faith. Depending on your personal bias, if one is honest, reading this book will cause emotions of either anger or shame. It is likely to bring tears to your eyes.

Dr. Bergman's book is crammed full of anecdotal and (mainly) documented evidence of the fanatical efforts by true-believers to protect their dogma. The history of man is rife with misguided attempts to stifle (using any means) dissenters of the state approved religion wither that religion is theistic or (in the case of Communism) atheistic. Now, as Slaughter of the Dissidents quite dramatically discloses, the state religion of America is scientism which is de facto evolutionism and, whatever tag is attached to this extremist sect, it is undeniably springing up from atheism.

@gungasnake,
Bergmans PhD is from acollege that has had its accreditation removed for teaching biology from an ID prspective. Whats yer point gunga? did you read this book or are you just cherry picking from some Creationist midden?

Cmon you can do better.
I can understand why this guy feels his dog is being trampled. He has 9 degrees and some of them may even be relevant if the colleges werent discredited.

You're saying that the science nazis now have the power to blackball entire schools and not merely individuals?

@gungasnake,
You don't know the half of it. They're coming for you in the next week or two and you'll be taken to a reeducation camp. Within that camp there is a special school for folks like you whose education was truncated below grade four.

Rest assured Comrade, you WILL be helped!

@gungasnake,
accreditation is a process that assures standards of a specific program, and a college or university meets those standards.

Quote:

Accreditation in the U.S.

The United States has no Federal Ministry of Education or other centralized authority exercising single national control over postsecondary educational institutions in this country. The States assume varying degrees of control over education, but, in general, institutions of higher education are permitted to operate with considerable independence and autonomy. As a consequence, American educational institutions can vary widely in the character and quality of their programs.

In order to ensure a basic level of quality, the practice of accreditation arose in the United States as a means of conducting non-governmental, peer evaluation of educational institutions and programs. Private educational associations of regional or national scope have adopted criteria reflecting the qualities of a sound educational program and have developed procedures for evaluating institutions or programs to determine whether or not they are operating at basic levels of quality.

Some Functions of Accreditation

Verifying that an institution or program meets established standards;
Assisting prospective students in identifying acceptable institutions;
Assisting institutions in determining the acceptability of transfer credits;
Helping to identify institutions and programs for the investment of public and private funds;
Protecting an institution against harmful internal and external pressure;
Creating goals for self-improvement of weaker programs and stimulating a general raising of standards among educational institutions;
Involving the faculty and staff comprehensively in institutional evaluation and planning;
Establishing criteria for professional certification and licensure and for upgrading courses offering such preparation; and
Providing one of several considerations used as a basis for determining eligibility for Federal assistance.
