I am new to this site and am hoping that someone may be able to help me with my last 2 clues in the December Big Demon which I can't get my head around.

sisyphean (as in Sisyphus, who the gods condemned for his sins to eternally roll a rock up a hill, only to see it, just as he reached the top every time, wrenched out of his hands and rolled back to the bottom again).
just checked the dictionary, and it's also apparently sisyphian; since i don't have the puzzle, you'll have to check to see which spelling works (I suspect the second y is wrong)
