The one shown here was located alongside the cotton field next to the town cemetery in central Texas, and served the ethnic community at Seaton, Texas. A modern, larger one is located across the highway with enough parking space for all, though.
Picture links to a good example if the style the folks there danced to. The example given in the link is German; however, the style's's called boehmischer there. Nice slide show comes with the melody.

Perhaps ed knows of what I speak....

That would have been the local cricket club dance - quite a while ago!
