Sand Creek, and music

I don't know anything about Sand Creek in contrast to friends here at a2k like Dys.

This guy is probably my favorite musician, while I admit that on looking up his lyrics I think he was messed up more than part of the time. I love his voice, and some of his songs on M'innamoravo di tutto make me cry.. there were a zillion people at his funeral, so he was popular. Eh, I just like his music.

He had an interesting history - here:

Some of my football pals will snap to a reference to PFM.

Meantime, I don't take Sand Creek as being about musicians in any primary way but I do think musicians carry history with them.

@ossobuco,
If you heard about Sand Creek from Dys, it was probably about the massacre of Black Kettle's Cheyenne band at Sand Creek.

@roger,
Yes, that sounds right. Tell me more. I don't mean wiki links, just stuff you might want to say.

@ossobuco,
I don't remember the full story. There was some sort of Indian raid in Colorado, and a Coronel Chivvington let some sort of Colorado militia in search of retribution. He found some Indians and got the retribution. What he couldn't get by killing, he achieved by mutilating the bodies. It wouldn't have been quite such a setback for race relations if he had chanced upon the right band. Sorry for the lack of precision. Maybe you should try wilki, or just ask Bob. I think he might have been there.

This was the same Coronel Chivvington that led one side in the battle of Glorietta Pass, the only Civil War battle fought in New Mexico. I have forgotten which side he was on, but I think he was of the Northern persuasion. I also don't know who won. Glorietta Pass is a bit north of Sante Fe, I believe.

@roger,
You're as bad as me, so I'm comfortable with your input.
I'm sure we'll both learn more as this thread goes on. which would be a good thing.

@ossobuco,
OK, now I'm irritated.

de Andre has a perfectly good site, and that link should connect to it.

She will be back.

Very irritating.

@Rockhead,
but my e at the end is the end of his name, she says dizzily.
I'm not clear how to fix this by cut and paste.

Fret? Sure.

@ossobuco,
Hi, rh. But that is his name and how his link usually works. I'm the one who messed up a batch of posts ago and skipped an e.

But, wait, maybe I should listen to what you are saying. but I'm not clear on it.

@Rockhead,
Yes. Thank you. It seems simple but wasn't while I was struggling with links. It's a lightweight take on him, but a start.

@Rockhead,
Are you calling me dumb? Yes, I'll agree to that, much of the time.

I doubt we'll ever resolve our issues, but I don't run around hating you, rh.
