Where do elks go to die?

Not the members of the well-known fraternity, but rather the animal itself.

Thank you.

Ok, I was told this was the place to go for answers and what do I discover? Nothing!

No one knows where elks go to die!

You people should be ashamed of your reputation.

@Abel Conklin,
Although I consider the question frivolous, I'll be glad to give you an answer I consider serious.

A lot of elks die crossing busy freeways and stepping in front of a vehicle which has more mass than the elk. Others die in the woods, taking a .30-.30 to a vital organ during hunting season. My own suspicion is that those which actually die a "natural" death, do so while standing in a cool running stream to cool the fever which they might well be experiencing.

The reason there is no such a thing as the legendary "elephant graveyard" is because that's how most elephants go to die when their time has come.

Thank you, sir, for your heartfelt answer. I had assumed there was some sort of elk graveyard, much like in the Tarzan movies, but you have set me straight.

I doubt that they go anyplace special. They probably just die wherever they were when they got too sick to travel.

assuming you're just ignorant, what you call "elk" is in real life named "wapiti" and they usually die in vain or georgia.

Dyslexia, (may I call you Dy?) why do you feel that you can attack me in such a manner? What have I ever done to cause you to behave in such a way?

You, sir, are a bastard in my book, and I shall fight you to the very end.

This is making me nutty, although it is certainly not important. There is, at least technically, no such word as "elks." Elk is both the singular and plural of this word, just as in the case of deer. You don't say a herd of deers, you say a herd of deer. Same for elk.
