It was written by my boyfriend.
I never thought for a second I could be with someone like you,
Some how you have me entangled, I can't escape, I don't know how,
I wonder what is wrong with you, To want to be with someone like me,
Someone who only has ambition for writing,
One who is not driven by much, Rarely does love effect me,
You are one of a kind, you have no idea how you effect me,
To make all my thoughts of is this relationship crazy go away,
But I must admit, I still have a rebelous spirit, That wants freedom,
It is hard, Being in a relationship, especially when you love to flirt,
When you have been single and loved the life, flirt with whoever,
No worries, The life of a playa was something you had,
Something you denied, but if people wanted they could call you it,
I am trying to change but it is hard,
I have to completely change myself around,
I got use of no fear of cheating, no fear of getting in trouble,
Now I can't look at a friend without feeling a tinge of guilt,
What is wrong with that you may ask?
Old habbits wanna kick in, I stay seperated from the rest of the worldO
Cause I do not wanna dissappoint you, but it will happen,
Maybe not cause I'll cheat, but because it is impossible for me to be the perfect person for you,
We live two completely different lives, You have a plan,
I do not, I have nothing I want to do with my life, i learned the hard way not to plan,
I gave up trying to be perfect for anyone person,
I gave up on trying to plan out my life,
I am rebelous towards my family, I'll do things my way,
if you push me towards something I will sling shot to the other side,
they say opposites attract, and we are the perfect example,
You disagree, but you don't look at everything like I do,
You look at outside things, Look on the inside,
You will eventually understand

I think it means he's afraid to commit, has insecurity issues and thinks you'd do better with someone more stable.
What do you think it means?

Well people have told me that they think it means that he loves me and i make him feel like he wants to be a better person. Yet, he doesn't want me to find fault in him because of who he is.

I interpret the poem in the manner panzade has expressed:
he is surprised that you could love someone like him
as he considers you clearly the better person.
He does love you, however he's afraid of commitments
and he is certain that he'll step aside in the course of
your relationship and he doesn't want to hurt you - but
he cannot give you any guarantees.

No, I just tend to see the good in everyone. Im very optimistic. He is a pessimist. (spelling) He looks down upon himself and life when I try to help him see all that is good.

So, basically he is saying that he isn't sure if he can bring me happiness because of who he is?
He's at least giving you a warning that having a relationship with him may be a challenge.
I think it was great that he wrote a poem for you.
He sounds like the kind of guy that needs a wide berth. Give him lots of room and don't expect much from him.
He's in his own world - but at leasst he did tell you beforehand.
