ohhhhhhh -- that's a completely different problem altogether! You don't need substitution. You have two equations with two unknowns. Just add the two equations to get to:
-5/4x - y = 0
-5/4x=y
Then pick either equation and solve for x:
1/2x - (3/5 * -5/4x) = -2
1/2x - 15/20x = -2
10/20x - 15/20x = -2
-5/20x = -2; divide both sides by -5/20 which means flip the fraction and multiply
x = -2(-20/5) or 40/5 or 8
then y= -5/4(8) or 10
