3x - 1 ≥ -10 and 4x + 7 ≤ 2x + 1

it comes out to be
x ≥ -3 and x ≤ 3

but in my book it says the answer is
x = -3

clearly I'm not understanding something

@brokencdplayer,
Try that second equation again.

4x + 7 <= 2x + 1
2x <= -6
x <= -3

So x must be >= -3 and <= -3, so -3 is the only solution.
