LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRIZES: JOHN PHILLIPS n DAUGHTER MACKENZIE for 10 Years ?
Unlike Michael Jackson, I DID buy the music of the Mamas & the Papas.
I liked them.
10 years ?
Is this inconsistent with human nature ?
@OmSigDAVID,
well that depends david, what do you think human nature is?
I've just heard blurbs but I do know that ******* my father would go against my nature (and vise versa). And I'm human so yeah.... against human nature sounds reasonable to me.
The father is dead and can tell no tales. The daughter is selling lots of books using this tale. hmmmm
Does anyone really care?
She is a very sad and pathetic case.
It is not unreasonable to assume she will say anything to make money and obtain attention, but why should she receive either?
He was a member of a singing group that is remembered by Baby Boomers but will be forgotten before long.
She played a role in an insipid television sit-com.
Her's has been a rough life which is unfortunate and if this claim is true I feel very sorry for her, but do we need it to be played on a national stage?
Why are people attracted to these sorts of stories?
They are not tragedies, they are simply soul-numbing and depressing.

I like her; I wish her success and prosperity and good sales.
Her sister, Chynna agrees with her.
One of the other singers, Denny Doherty, confirmed it also.
I wonder if u r
jealous of her book sales.

So its OK for her dad to rape her because the show did not appeal to your taste ?
The little blurb I read said they had a ten year long 'affair'. Did she say he raped her?

I wonder if senility is setting in. Denny Doherty died in 2007. Did he make this claim prior to the book coming out? Why did the sister not report such a thing, if it was true?
Your last sentence is about as idiotic as a statement/question as I have ever seen.
I would like to know where the money is going. I would hate to think that a bunch of people will buy and cry over her book, and see the movie that she no doubt wants to sell, and have it all go into her arm. It is currently #4 on Amazon, so maybe we have the next "mommy dearest" on our hands. The public loves this kind of trash.

Behold economic democracy and financial libertarianism.
I join in hoping that she will not poison herself.
She said that she has been clean for 15 years.
Presumably, she has not been indigent during that time.

You're kidding I hope, or otherwise wrong:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former "One Day at Time" television star Mackenzie Phillips pleaded guilty to cocaine possession on Friday and was ordered into another drug rehab program.
Phillips, 48, thanked police for arresting her at Los Angeles International Airport in August, saying "they saved my life" in an address to Friday's court hearing.

I have no idea what is true or not true.
I liked the Mamas and the Papas, saw them sing at a club in Del Mar once, long ago.
I decided on taking a particular job while tooling down Santa Monica Blvd in my convertible listening to "go where you want to go, do what you want to do", or some similar words.
Oh, no, memory fades, or colludes.. was that about a job or a boyfriend? Interesting, I remember the song, the lane on Santa Monica Blvd, and not exactly what I was deciding about at the time. Maybe it was both, as the timing was about right for either. I would have made my decisions in any case, but what is left is the sense of sounds and the convertible top down and optimism.
@hawkeye10,
I wish Mackenzie well
and I will not discriminate against her
regardless of whether she is addicted to drugs.
David
@OmSigDAVID,
her long running and presumably current status of being on junk does however get the way of her credibility. This can be a problem when one is in the process of trading on their victim identity for profit. According to the script she was supposed to get clean for a few years, so that we believe her when she says that she is a new woman, and that a man ruined her. No time I suppose for doing this right.

Her sister, Chynna confirmed it, except insofar as consent.
Chynna asserts a ten year incestuous relationship with John
with Mackenzie 's consent. Apparently the late Denny Doherty
did also, saying that he had been horrified.
@OmSigDAVID,
yes, this is all true. I suspect that she is a victim. My problem is that this roll out has all the trappings of a PR event. It was only a year ago that she was arrested, and since that time she has done the Celebrity Rehab show, a book, Oprah signed on to sell her book, and she has been "saved" by the Scientologists down at Narconon.........it is all too perfect by half.
I don't like to be sold.
