Yup, Christmas advertising in September!
I heard it on AM radio, listening to a local station (CKNW), and the ad was for
Future Shop.
Now, they didn't use the "C" word, as they were much too subtle for that, but rather the "H" (Holiday) word.
The ad was pushing the use of their gift cards for "
holiday shopping". Seeing that Future Shop is mainly an electronics store, I doubt they were talking about such upcoming holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Rememberance Day.
"Here's an iPod to each one of you nice kiddies for your wonderful costumes."
Well, to the best of my recollection, this is the earliest Christmas ad I've heard to date. I'm not talking about the phony "Christmas-in-July" stuff, but a genuine ad.
Have you heard or seen anything lately that would indicate that "Christmas-is-sooner-than-you-think"?
