How do I do this???

I need some help from all of you garden experts.

I have a 3 year old weeping willow tree in my yard.
It is about 12 feet tall.

There are some branches growing at ground level, and I want to trim them off.
I want to get the classic weeping willow look when the tree is mature, with the large canopy.

Do I need to prune those lower branches yet (if at all)?
Or, will they naturally produce the look I want?

I found this:

Quote:
Instructions
Step 1Shape the weeping willow the way you want it when it is young. Pruning a young weeping willow tree helps it to have the shape that you want as it grows larger.

Step 2Cut away suckers that grow from the ground and travel up the trunk of the weeping willow tree. Suckers stress the tree and prevent it from growing well. Cut the suckers off at the ground, remove them from the tree trunk, and dispose of them.

Step 3Trim back the branches of the weeping willow tree if they get in your way or if you want to let more sunshine into the yard. Weeping willows are hardy trees and can be pruned to fit your needs without causing them harm.

Step 4Remove dead and broken branches as soon as you see them. Weeping willow trees have brittle soft wood that breaks easily. Periodically prune dead wood, to prevent a build up of tree litter in the yard.

I hope that helps!

@mysteryman,

if you have a sewer line, or other underground piping, make sure the tree is not near them.
the roots of this type of tree have been known to break into them...
