memorex dvd player is on standby and wont turn on

i have a memorex dvd player that i got like two years ago. everything was working fine before i left for vacation. when i got home it was still on standby and i try to turn it on, and nothing. i grabbed the remote to try it that way and still nothing. how do i fix this?

Have you tried disconnecting the AC power for at least 5 minutes?
