Could you please me with this topic - I am looking for a few leads. Even a simple google link or a previous thread here on the same topic will do.
I would like some lowdown on about corporate internet security, what is the latest industry standard for ensuring against hackers etc. Also about security risks and threats faced by individual users like you and me. Finally I would like to know if there are laws protecting companies and individuals against internet based threats and risks, or if there is a federal dept to tackle internet hazards etc.
Like I said, a mere few leads, names of laws, incidents, available anti hack/virus technology will go a long way to help me. Thank you once more.
@brahmin,
according to the head of our IT dept, sophos is the best corporate product out there...
@brahmin,
The Federal Department here in the USA is the FBI. Here is the link

thanks much. so which are the biggest kind of internet threat facing corporates and individual consumers ?? keylogging?? worms?? could someone name a big instance of internet crime - like if well fargo bank gets hacked or AIG gets broken into (through internet)
I think phishing is actually a pretty serious topic, or so my IT friends tell me. Unfortunately browsers are ridiculously flawed, so there's not a lot standing in the way of a consumer's private data and a hacker aside from tools like extended validation ssl, which at least let you know you're on a legit site with the green url bar. But phishers have been able to crack bank accounts, distribute worms, all kinds of stuff -- through socnets as well as mail programs, just to name a few.
thanks much again everybody.
