Is Bright Leaf the novel that the movie with Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal was based on? If so, what a coincidence: a documentary film called Bright Leaves, by a guy who says the movie Bright Leaf was based on his great-grandfather's life, just opened in New York today.
Yes it is. I read the book before seeing the movie many years ago. Leonard Maltin says in his movie guide that the film is a loose chronicle of a 19th Century tobacco farmer building a cigarette empire. Is this noncausal synchronicity teasing us again? (lol)
