Hard to find Song

Reply Sun 10 May, 2009 09:25 am
I am trying to track down a version of the old Bluegrass song called "Rocky Top". I am looking for a particular artist who did it by the name of Fred McKenna. If anyone knows of where I can possibly locate this song by this artist (preferably for MP3 downloading), I would greatly appreciate it. If there are any other artists who did an acoustic guitar version of it, I would appreciate hearing about them, too (if Fred McKenna's version is not available) Thank you

@lizzie531,
http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~jrice/Discography_comp.htm

This site shows that the song is in "Our Family Album"

Well, apparently someone on e-bay is selling the album that contains the song that you want. It is on LP, but I suppose that is better than nothing!

@jespah,
Thank you very much jespah for that youtube link. That is definitely the song but I am looking to avoid any fiddle or banjo accompaniments if possible. I don't remember if the Fred McKenna version which I am looking for included a fiddle or banjo as I haven't heard it since the 70's. I know Fred McKenna was a blind guitar player and I loved that song done by him but I don't remember if there was a banjo or fiddle accompaniment with it or not. (I'm not really a fan of banjo or fiddle music.) I did really like that song done by him though. Thanks again.

@Phoenix32890,
Thank you very much phoenix32890 for that ebay link. Unfortunately I don't have a record player anymore (haven't had one for a long time). If I did, I would have definitely taken you up on that suggestion.

@panzade,
Thank you panzade for your response and the LP picture. Unfortunately, I, probably like most people, have not owned a record player in a long time so the idea of an LP is out. Thank you anyway, though.

@panzade,
Hi Panzade,

I am still looking for the Fred McKenna song "Rocky Top". Do you know if the album that you had posted in your reply around May 10 (with the orange background) contains that song? I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks.
