@hingehead,
Thanks for all the responses - I wonder why America seems to have so many more addresses in songs?

I've been researching 57 Mount Pleasant Street and found this:

Quote:
is the address of the Registry Office where John Lennon was married for the first time! ( actually the address of the Registry Office is 65 Mount Pleasant.) In Liverpool

Still don't know if it's fact or not...

@hingehead,
3 if you count Betsy... (the truck)

most beautiful sunrise I ever saw, woke at dawn 20 miles west and stretched...

heard a cough, and turned to find another dude broke down an 1/8 of a mile upwind. (he had AAA but the dickweed tow driver would not let me ride in unless I paid him $100)

(dude come back and got me after his got fixed)

I'm too tired to think of another clever address right now, I'll have to owe ya one.

CONTE
Vado Oh, il meglio mi scordavo!
Dimmi un po', la tua bottega per trovarti, dove sta?

FIGARO
La bottega? Non si sbaglia;
guardi bene; eccola la'.
(additando fra le quinte)
Numero quindici a mano manca
quattro gradini, facciata bianca,
cinque parrucche nella vetrina
sopra un cartello "Pomata fina",
mostra in azzurro alla moderna,
v'e' per insegna una lanterna
La' senza fallo mi trovera'.

@panzade,
Unlike all the other ladies, she looked so young and sweet
As she made her way alone down that empty street
Down on Mainstreet

This girl is made of lipstick
Powder and paint
Sees the pictures of herself
Every magazine on every shelf

This girl is maid of bond street
Hailing cabs, lunches with executives
Gleaming teeth sip aperitifs

This girl is a lonely girl
Takes the train from paddington to oxford circus
Buys the daily news
But passengers don't smile at her, don't smile at her

This girl is made of loneliness
A broken heart
For the boy that she once knew
Doesn't want to know her any more

And this girl is a lonely girl
Every thing she wants is hers
But she can't make it with the boy she really wants to be with
All the time, to love, all the time

This boy is made of envy
Jealousy
He doesn't have a limousine
Really wants to be a star himself

This girl, her world is made of flashlights and films
Her cares are scraps on the cutting room floor

And maids of bond street drive round in chauffered cars
Maids of bond street picture clothes, eyes of stars
Maids of bond street shouldn't have worldly cares
Maids of bond street shouldn't have love affairs

@hingehead,
Windin' your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You'll drink the night away
And forget about everything

Wasn't there a rather famous musical address on Abbey Road in London? I don't recall the street number . . .

Where do all the hippies meet?
South Street, South Street . . .

From the 1963 song about South Street in Philadelphia by the Orlons, it is thought to be the first mention of "hippies" in popular culture.

@Setanta,
This is actually the first one I though of when I saw this thread....they {Elton/Bernie} never really give an exact address, but it's easy enough to sort out...as it has become a shrine of sorts.

What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain.

....the gardener is of course John Lennon, and Mark David Chapman is the "one" insect who took him away from us nearly 30 years ago....in front of his home, the Dakota....72nd St. and Central Park West NY, NY.

There was an episode of Mad About You, where they somehow managed to get into Yoko's apartment {usual sitcom goofyness that I don't remember} and it was actually Yoko herself, but I'm sure it was a sound stage, and probably a prop baby grand....anyway, Paul asked if he could sit down at the piano....Yoko agreed, so he sat down and hit one single note. I'm not ashamed to admit that that one note brought tears to my eyes....like I said, even though I'm sure it was a prop...just the thought that there will never be another single note issued from that piano from John is very moving.

A gardener like that one no one can replace

Edit....found the clip on Youtube, Yoko was not even in that scene, was the maid they talked to...and after the one note, the piano stool fell apart...didn't remember that part either.

Just hear 14th Street by Laura Cantrell - which reminded my of the 59th Bridge Street Song by S&G - not as cool as an actual number though Panz.
