Please explain the claim that Mars is only about half as large as
Earth and yet has just about the same land area.

No oceans on Mars. At least not now Smile That would be my guess.

Earth is approximately 2/3 sea or water leaving 1/3 land area while mars has no body of water.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
WEll, earth is bigger then mars,but they have the same land area. This is because mars doesnt have an ocean. If you do not count the ocean on earth itll be the same size of mars. Mars is all rocky, and earth has oceans. If you took all the islands, continets, and mountains put them all together and make a ball it will be the size of mars.

the earth isn't Sanforized therefore it shrinks when wet. mars is Sanforized.
